    The Move

    Egans successfully relocated staff for the Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group (MWRRG), including office furniture, personal computers, and crates from The Tea House in Southbank to The World Trade Centre in Docklands.

    Equipment

    Egans chose security crates rather than boxes for this particular move for two reasons:

    • The crates allow staff to pack their personal and confidential work belongings easily without having to do any lifting.
    • Security crates stack onto skates during packing which makes for a very efficient move.

    Cages, computer crates, bubble wrap, keyboard and monitor bags were used to move the IT equipment.

    Resource Recovery

    Redundant office workstations and furniture items were dismantled, removed, and placed through Egans ‘Wise Office Furniture Program’ to maximise resource recovery and sustainable disposal for unwanted Furniture Fittings and Equipment (FF&E).

    Of the 406 items placed in the WISE program;

    • 168 (41.3%) were reused by MWRRG.
    • 107 (26.3%)  were sold.
    • 131 (32.3%) were recycled.

    Recovered material;

    • Recycled 23%.
    • Landfill 9%.

    Raw materials recycled included melamine, steel, aluminium extrusion, aluminium cast, copper PVC wiring, plastic, and cardboard.
