Westmead Hospital serves a population of 1.85m people and is located on one of the largest health and hospital campuses in Australia.
Major refurbishments and extensions have been ongoing for several years. Over the last 4 years, Egans have undertaken several jobs at Westmead Hospital on behalf of The University of Sydney.
Compactus Relocation
Hospital Fitout Group specialises in hospital refurbishments. The company contracted Egans to relocate 3 very large compactus units internally in the ICPMR building. As highly skilled and experienced compactus relocators, Egans transported 60 bays down 200 meters of hospital corridor. The job required modifications to fit the compactus units to the new space.
Challenges
All Egans staff were temperature tested upon arrival and followed COVID Safe practices including frequent hand sanitisation throughout the works. Although the area was very busy, Egans minimised disruptions to lab staff who were working incredibly hard on research that will ultimately save lives.
