Mobile pedestals are small storage units that often sit under desks or office workstations. They come with or without wheels, with or without locks, and in 2 or 3 drawer configurations. Wheeled mobile pedestals are more convenient for changing workstation configurations.
The top 1 or 2 draws are used for loose items such as notebooks and stationary. The bottom draw is used for filing and can be configured laterally or vertically.
Mobile pedestals made for offices typically come in either melamine or metal. Metal pedestals are often better quality and more expensive than melamine. They are also more environmentally friendly as they can be easily recycled.
There are plenty of cheap brands of mobile pedestals manufactured overseas and sold through Office Works and other retailers. There are however high quality Australian brands of mobile pedestals that will stand the test of time including Schiavello, Hayworth, Zenith Interiors, and Herman Miller.
TheĀ photo above is of Wise Mobile Pedestal MP302 made by Schiavello. It’s a red 3 drawer metal pedestal measuring 50 high x 430 wide x 500 deep.
