If all else fails, what is the single most important process to get right with your office move?
If your movers don’t turn up, your move will be off to a harrowing start. You should however be able to find a bare bones crew with equipment on short notice, even if not from the movers you have contracted. If your staff are not prepped before the move, it will be a difficult day, but the move will still go ahead. If you are unorganised and haven’t packed your boxes yet, your removalist team will be unimpressed upon arrival, but your office will still get moved. If you haven’t told your staff that they are moving, the atmosphere will be very tense but the relocation will still take place.
You can get a way with very little planning and although the inefficiency will cost you money and time, you should still be able to achieve a result.
There is one aspect of your move however that if not planned ahead of time, will stop your office relocation dead in it’s tracks! This is the single most important thing to get right with your move and therefore makes it the
office removal tip of the year:
- Contact the building managers of every building that is being moved in and out of and book parking, the loading dock, and the lift.
If you fail to follow this tip and building access is already booked out on the day(s) (often the case) your move will not take place and you will have to reschedule. There is often a tight time frame of when businesses are required to be in and out of leases and so a reschedule may not even be possible. Forgetting to book access can be totally disastrous to your relocation and your business.
